Historical note: Wanderfolk's public release path is now Steam-first. Older update posts may refer to the browser build or earlier desktop plans as they existed when originally published.

The world just got a lot bigger. Wanderfolk now features nine biomes, each with its own culture, religion, crisis, and two playable characters — one male, one female — for a total of eighteen unique heroes.

Beyond the original Farmlands, Mountains, Enchanted Grove, and Desert, five new regions await. The Coast offers the Drifter, a shipwrecked fisherman, and the Pearl Seeker, a free-diving pearl hunter. The River Delta brings the Riverwalker, a levee-builder hardened by floods, and the Reed Singer, a river mystic with songs that calm the waters. On the open Meadow, the Windstalker hunts the wolf packs that destroyed the herds, while the Meadow Witch heals with herbs and quiet defiance. The Ancient Ruins draw the Relic Hunter, a disgraced scholar chasing forbidden knowledge, and the Vaultbreaker, an athletic treasure hunter who found more than gold in the depths. Deep in the Dense Forest, the Woodstalker moves like a shadow among dying trees, and the Snareweaver chose wilderness over an arranged marriage.

Every hero carries a unique backstory, starting equipment, and cultural identity shaped by their homeland’s crisis. Character creation now lets you pick your biome and gender, previewing each hero’s story before you begin. Whether you want to rebuild after a blight, track wolves across the grasslands, or crack open ancient vaults, there is a hero for you.
