Historical note: Wanderfolk's public release path is now Steam-first. Older update posts may refer to the browser build or earlier desktop plans as they existed when originally published.

TL;DR: Renown is a new village-wide civic standing score (separate from individual NPC reputation) that tracks your cumulative deeds across five tiers, unlocking price discounts, ceremonial recognition, and claimable houses and farm plots.

Reputation tells you how individual NPCs feel about you. Renown tells you how the village as a whole sees you. It’s a cumulative civic standing score earned through deeds — defending against bandits, completing bounties, farming, donating resources — that never decays.

Five tiers of renown:

TierThresholdPrice Discount
Stranger0
Known10+2% off
Respected25+5% off
Champion50+8% off
Village Hero80+12% off

Each tier triggers a one-time ceremonial announcement — the village elder publicly recognizes your standing, and nearby NPCs react. It’s a small moment, but it makes the grind feel worthwhile.

The Daily Summary appears when you sleep. It’s a single screen that shows everything you accomplished that day — gold earned and spent, items crafted, monsters killed, reputation changes, and your current civic standing. No more guessing whether you made progress. Press L anytime to open the Player Log, which stores the last 30 days of summaries for review.

Claimable estate lots round out the system. Non-origin villages now have empty houses and farm plots available for purchase. Build enough renown and gold, and you can put down roots in a second village — or a third.

The daily summary makes progress tangible. Renown makes it meaningful.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between reputation and renown in Wanderfolk?

Reputation is how individual NPCs feel about you and can go up or down based on your conversations and actions with that specific person. Renown is a cumulative village-wide civic standing score earned through deeds like defending against bandits, completing bounties, and donating resources. Renown never decays and represents the village’s collective opinion of your contributions.

How do you check your daily progress in Wanderfolk?

The Daily Summary screen appears automatically when you sleep, showing gold earned and spent, items crafted, monsters killed, reputation changes, and your current civic standing. You can also press L at any time to open the Player Log, which stores the last 30 days of summaries for review.

Can you own property in multiple villages?

Yes. Non-origin villages have empty houses and farm plots available for purchase with gold. As you build enough renown and accumulate gold in different settlements, you can put down roots in a second village or a third.
